When it comes to clean eating for weight loss, the fundamental part is to eat good quality, non-processed foods that are low in added sugar. In this video, and below, I’ll dive deeper into the 5 main rules to follow, so you can lose weight and get healthy by following a clean eating plan. Let’s dive on in with Rule #1!
*Rule #1 – Avoid Processed Foods (2:32)
Here at the FFP, we use what we call the ‘great-grandmother’ test. If your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize it as a food, don’t eat it. If you’re buying foods that come in a packet, box, etc. make sure to look at the ingredients, as the producers have to list the ingredients in order of quantity. If the top ingredients are refined flours, low-quality oils, sugars, or ‘artificial’ anything, it SHOULDN’T GO IN YOUR BODY!
*Rule #2 – Avoid ‘Hidden’ Sugars (3:00)
Most people know that sugar is a huge factor in fat gain, but ONLY avoiding the obvious sugars like soda and candy isn’t always the answer. Many foods have ‘hidden’ sugars in them, in the form of syrups and fruit sugars. Even many ‘healthy’ juices and smoothies stack up against the donut rating at a rate of 4-6 donuts worth of sugar PER DRINK!
*Rule #3 – Watch Out For Low-Quality Fats (5:30)
The next rule in your clean eating weight loss plan is to check out which fats you are currently eating in your diet. The bad fats that I show you below are responsible for increased inflammation within your body, which is what leads to most deadly diseases. They are also responsible for visceral fat that sits around your organs and causes major health problems too.
Good Fats: Avocado, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, Egg yolks
Bad Fats: Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Peanut Oil, Soy Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil.
*Rule #4 – Use High-Quality Grains (7:03)
Cutting down on refined carbohydrates is one of the best things you can do for clean eating weight loss. However, that doesn’t mean you need to eliminate all types of bread completely, for example. Using carb sources that include good quality, organic, non-processed grains, like Ezekiel bread, is absolutely fine.
*Rule #5 – Use High Quality, Lean Animal Proteins (8:56)
For clean eating weight loss, men that include animal proteins in their diet should make sure to use high-quality, lean animal proteins. The difference between meat from a grass-fed, free-range cow and a corn-fed factory-farmed cow has been research-proven to be vast.
Corn fed animal proteins have been proven to include the fats that cause inflammation inside our bodies, so are a bad choice of protein and fat. Grass-fed, organic, lean meat is what you should make sure to eat, should you include animal proteins in your diet.
